Hilos Omega. Yarns for knitting daytime and evening clothes

Hilos Omega is a Mexican company manufacturing yarns for hand knitting projects and for the summer season it has developed an attractive range of products. The yarns are highly successful in both domestic and exportation markets. The products are designed for knitting beach clothes and accessories, for the morning, the afternoon and the evening. These clothes are cool, most recommendably knitted with cotton yarns for the daytime and with metal-effect yarns for evening clothes for an additional touch of glamour.
We contacted Marina Sampietro, Manager of this company, to learn about their collection and to ask which colours they recommend. “For beach clothes, it is advisable to have them match the colours of your swimming suit. Black contrasting with lively colours is ideal for younger people while older consumers love to wear crochet knitted clothes in white, black and navy blue, all of them for the daytime”, she explains.
Yarns and colours for evening clothes
Summer evening clothes need to be elegant and glamorous. “So gold and silver effects are highly suitable. We offer our Omega nylon yarn with metal effects and available in a broad range of colours. We also make black, combined with both silver and gold effects, and a version with both. Black is also very suitable when contrasting with different materials in attractive combinations, and even more when the glossy effect is subtle, not exaggerated”, Marina Sampietro explains.
Accessories deserve a chapter of their own
Summer clothes need to convey a special character, and accessories of course, play a major role. For hand knitted accessories will follow the latest fashion trends as well: “For beach robes we recommend hand knitted hats and cotton blouses, knitted with our Sinfonía yarns”, our interviewee suggests. Then she adds, “Hair bands and ribbons, belts in lively colours, hats and bags, all of these are very suitable accessories you can knit by hand”.
Omega’s publications
The magazines published by Hilos Omega mainly address a target comprised by the younger consumers, for the company’s main goal is to motivate the younger generations and promote knitting as an attractive activity. “We need to motivate young girls, inviting them to knit their own clothes”, says Marina Sampietro.
Summer clothes for children
Omega yarns are “ideal for knitting children’s clothes for Omega proposes the broadest range of colours and thicknesses”. As to clothes for babies, our interviewee points out that for them, too, the company has a large number of choices, in lively, merry colours that do away with the conventional, classic image.
Haberdashery stores and handcraft workshops
We ask Marina Sampietro is she believes that haberdashery stores and handcraft workshops are doing a good job in promoting hand knitting as an activity. She tells us that these centres and stores, “Do promote it and invite people to take up knitting. Young consumers are gradually showing an interest in knitting their own clothes, but we still have a long way to go and they usually lack the time. So we need to teach them easy techniques, with simple projects that can be completed in almost no time so they can feel proud of what they have created”.
It is all about clothes that may be knitted even by beginners, uncomplicated projects with colours that add the lively touch to the simplest of stitches.
