Cucirini Tre Stelle is an Italian company designing and manufacturing threads and wools for hand knitting, and among the different brands produces we find “Baby stell”, “Baby cover”, Filati sport “iris” e “Mimosa”, “Lilla”, “Camelia”, “Orchidea”, “Margherita”, “Girasole”, “Glicine”, “Calla”, “Mandorlo”, “Fiordaliso”, “Ortensia”, “Tulipano”, “Bouganville”, “Erica” and “Ibisco”.
We interviewed Alessandra Scarlata, Art Director and head of the creative team of this company. She kindly explains and informs about the company, its products and the latest novelties.
Novelties for the 2008-2009 autumn-winter season
Retailer stores are already placing orders for the coming winter season and we wish to know what end consumers can already find regarding products by this company. Alessandra Scarlata recommends the following references:
A range of 7 new types of “prendi” products: “Ciclamino” in 8 different shades of flamed colours; “Pasiflora”, multistrand, with Lurex inserts; “Gardenia”, flamed boucle in 5 carefully selected colours to be combined with any other in this variety; “Giglio”, single-strand, in a sequence of 4 harmonious types; “Papavero” multi-strand, with boucle Lame and “Rosa” mixed Merino and Cashmere in unified dyes and with a “chine” look. “Millefiori” presents a mixture of wool and yarn in printed colours that result in combinations with various effects.
Braids, stitches and designs
Braids are a classic, present every season, though each time they are reinterpreted as shapes and colours follow fashion trends. Our interviewee tells us that the classic products are the most suitable: “Baby stell”, “Cover”, “Iris”, “Mimosa” and “Camelia”. And the more daring varieties that are also suitable for knitting brands include “Orchidea”, “Margherita” and “Fiordaliso”, while the new collection also includes “Rosa” and “Millefiori”.
These should be knitting with needles in sizes ranging from 2 to 6.
Magazines
The magazines published by the company features knitted braids, “Mainly in bedcovers for babies, Nordic-style sweaters, and shawls”, our interviewee points out.
Accessories play a major role and braids contribute that special touch of beauty that comes with creations made by hand. Cucirini Tre Stelle recommends this added value for purses, necklaces and large collars.
Winter colours
Our interviewee comments that this winter season white and black will be the most popular combination, and also the warm musk green and cherry red. There is a continuity then, of the classic white and black, with the addition of the warm touch for those cold winter days and evenings.
Tradeshowss
Tradeshows are the ideal platform where companies can showcase products marketed internationally, but we wish to know if Cucirini’s results are as expected. Alessandra Scarlata replies “our sector is going through a slow period, but we can feel satisfied at results for clients respond well. This is a stage calling for renovation in consumers’ interest, as they feel attracted to creating beautiful things with their hands. So we need to show them new ways and techniques, that make it possible for them to produce great designs, using simple wools and yarns. It is all about the magic of “making and creating”. Clients visiting our stands can consult our technicians and creatives, and even beginners quickly learn how to knit for they teach them simple, easy ways of making elegant, attractive designs”.
